About the Artist
Fáilte, I'm Deborah Ní Chaoimhe.
I am an artist and ceramicist living on an organic farm in West Cork, where the landscape, the changing seasons, and the nearby sea are a constant source of inspiration. Surrounded by nature every day, I find myself drawn to the colours, textures, and rhythms of the natural world, and these influences weave their way through both my paintings and ceramic work.
I studied Ceramics and Fine Art in Dún Laoghaire, where I developed a deep appreciation for making by hand and for the expressive possibilities of different materials. Later, I completed a Master's degree in Art Therapy, which further deepened my understanding of creativity, reflection, and the emotional connections we form through art.
Texture plays a central role in my work. I am fascinated by weathered surfaces, layered landscapes, sea-worn stones, lichen-covered walls, and the traces left behind by time and the elements. Whether I am working with clay or paint, I build up layers of colour and texture to create pieces that invite a closer look and evoke a sense of place, memory, and connection.
My work is inspired by the meeting points between land and sea, movement and stillness, and the beauty found in everyday natural details. Each piece is déanta le grá/made with love, created slowly and thoughtfully, reflecting my love of craftsmanship, nature, and the creative process itself.
I hope my work brings a little to you and sparks your curiosity.
Míle buíochas!
